Effective Fall 2023, a course syllabus/outline is required for all new course proposals.
- Log in to the CIM Course form
- Click Propose New Course button
- Complete all the required fields (highlighted in red)
- Be sure to choose an appropriate course number
- 100-400 course numbers are for undergraduate courses and 500-800 course numbers are for graduate courses
- Currently course numbers are not reused at UNCG
- Click the Course Numbers in Use button to determine available course numbers for your department (prefix must be selected first)
- Please complete the prerequisite, corequisite, and registration restriction fields as needed
- Attach syllabus/outline
- At bottom of form, click Save Changes button if you are still working on the proposal or Start Workflow button to submit for approval
- Reminder: course proposals are submitted for the fall of the upcoming academic year; view current deadlines here
- Course resources, including the new course checklist, are available here
- Course level must be 100 level or 200 level
- Selecting yes in the General Education section (near the bottom of the form) will allow you to complete the General Education fields
- A second rationale is required to explain why the course is appropriate for the MAC competency requested
- Select the MAC competency from the dropdown list
- Complete the required MAC fields (highlighted in red)

Effective immediately, the moratorium on MAC course proposals has been lifted.
- If requesting the College Writing (CW) attribute, select yes in the Communicating Ideas & Contexts field
