Creating Programs

Please reach out to the Office of Assessment, Accreditation, and Academic Program Planning as your first step. Please see below for the big picture steps of creating a new major degree program:

• Schedule a meeting with OAAAPP–reach out to Kate Humphries at [email protected]
• Approval of new program to be added to the UNC System Priority List–see Policy on Proposing New Academic Programs at UNCG
• Substantive Change Checklist (email to Kate Humphries at [email protected])
• Request for Preliminary Authorization–goes through curriculum review process at UNCG and then must be approved by the UNC System
  • Academic Program Planning Financial Worksheet also required; Financial Worksheet Instructions are available
• Request to Establish–goes through curriculum review process at UNCG and then must be approved by the Board of Governors

New concentrations, certificates, and minors must be proposed in CIM as a new program. No forms or authorization from the UNC System are required.

Substantive Change Checklist (email to Kate Humphries at [email protected]) is required to determine whether notification to or approval from SACSCOC is required.
